Randy Pausch

I was introduced to Randy Pausch via the Oprah show a few months ago. If you have never watched a video of this lecture, I would take time and do so. I have included the video.

Randy passed away today, July 25th. He has inspired so many people, myself included, to follow your childhood dreams. What a legacy to leave.

Here is a statement released today by the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer. You can find the entire article here.

"It is with profound sadness that the Board and staff of The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research mourn the loss of Dr. Randy Pausch, the Carnegie-Mellon computer sciences professor who became a household name for his now famous "Last Lecture." With his fearless examination of life and death, Randy has been and will continue to be an inspiration to millions. Randy understood well that scientific research is our best hope for finding a cure, and his tireless efforts to advance the state of the science for this disease are deeply appreciated. Never before has there been as outspoken and effective an advocate for this disease. It has been an honor and a privilege to know Randy Pausch. He will be missed."

Thursday Night Live

I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but I am just now hearing about "Thursday night live" in downtown Lexington! Its a family friendly event in Cheapside park downtown with live music and food. The best part for me is that I can bring Tallulah! Tomorrow night, July 24th, one of my favorite local bands is playing. They are the 80's cover band "Better Off Dead." Its no secret that I LOVE 80's music, so this should be really fun! The band goes on at 5:30 and food is available until 8. Anyone want to come with?!?

iphone therefore iblog

Meet my new little friend.
I was unable to score one last week but went ahead and pre-ordered it.
I am happy to report that it is here!

I have been a pitiful blogger lately. Just seems that with summer here, not too much has been going on, other than lazy days at the pool.
I will now be able to upload pictures from my phone to the blog. I'm hoping the phone will re-energize my blogging life :) Only time will tell.

Shane of "Marla and Shane Photography" took these photos! I couldn't slap the smile off of my face when I was watching the slideshow. I hope it brings a smile to your face too!

Happy 4th of July!

I will be celebrating at the beach!

PS- This is Emily's favorite holiday and she just posted a blog explaining why. "God Bless the USA" started playing in my head when I started reading it. Perhaps you will start to sing "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy" after you read it.

Savannah Recap!

I finally got around to uploading some of the pictures from the trip. As I'm sure you already know, Maria and I took a little detour to Savannah on the way to Watercolor. It was WELL worth it! We had such a great time. I fell in love with the city. In a dream world I would own a little ivy covered townhouse in the downtown historic district. Here are some pictures from our trip. Several of these look just like the ones that Maria posted, I guess thats inevitable when you have 2 cameras on the same trip :)

Welcome to Mecca...

On the Paula Deen tour. We had to be the youngest on the tour by at least 10 years, but we LOVED every minute of it!

Lunch at the Lady & Sons...yummy!

A meal at Uncle Bubbas Oyster House was our final stop on the tour. Uncle Bubba is Paula's brother and he even came out to take pictures with us!

No News Is Good News...

Sorry I haven't posted any pictures from the trip. I have been too lazy to upload them to my computer. Until then, I wanted to direct you to Maria's blog. She just posted an entire recap of what has happened thus far. Enjoy :)
